Timeouts when experiencing very log latencies

Is there a timeout that expires when reading objects of very long latencies?
In using the s3 interface I am getting failures when writing 1GB objects. I the environment I am testing these read latencies are very long (175 seconds and up from there).

There is one "timeout" parameter with millseconds for s3 storage, which could help mitigate the exception.
